Staticcheck is the recommended replacement of the frozen and deprecated
official golint linter [1].
Fix the things it complained about (or add lint:ignore directive) in:
- lib/go/thrift
- lib/go/test/tests
- tutorial/go/src
- test/go/src
- compiler generated code
The majority of the fixes are in the following categories:
- Use of deprecated function (mainly the TConfiguration related ones)
- Redundant break in switch cases
- Unused and unexported variables/fields/functions

Tutorial
-
First things first, you'll need to install the Thrift compiler and the language libraries. Do that using the instructions in the top level README.md file.
-
Read tutorial.thrift to learn about the syntax of a Thrift file
-
Compile the code for the language of your choice:
$ thrift
$ thrift -r --gen cpp tutorial.thrift
-
Take a look at the generated code.
-
Look in the language directories for sample client/server code.
-
That's about it for now. This tutorial is intentionally brief. It should be just enough to get you started and ready to build your own project.
